My Mother's Wedding Dress (print)
Description
My Mother’s Wedding Dress (2022)
In My Mother’s Wedding Dress, Melissa transforms personal memory into gesture and line. Wearing the fragile wedding gown once discarded by her mother and rescued by her father, she performs a quiet dance of grief and release. A ritual of becoming and unbecoming. The soft pink ground and restless charcoal marks hold both tenderness and defiance, echoing the artist’s acceptance that her life would never mirror her mother’s, yet would honour her all the same.
Limited Edition Prints
I’ve always wanted to make my paintings available in a form that people can live with - a way to share a piece of art with anyone who feels connected to it. Each painting in my body of work has its own energy, and I love the idea that it can live on beyond the original - that it can travel, find new homes, and be experienced again and again.
For this reason, I’m creating a very limited edition set of archival fine art prints for each work. Every print is professionally produced by Silverstone Printing Company in Johannesburg, one of the finest art printers in South Africa, using museum-grade inks and paper for lasting quality.
Each piece is hand-signed and editioned by me, ensuring its authenticity. These prints are made to be both affordable and collectible - a living archive of my paintings, made to bring art, colour, and meaning into more homes.
